Has American evangelicalism lost the image of "rest"?

It’s Friday and Sunday’s coming, which means I’m doing prep work.

In Revelation 14:11 there is no rest day or night for those who worshiped the beast and received the mark. This obviously is in contrast to the enormous Biblical theme of rest beginning with the creation story. God rests on the 7th day. Sabbath is for enjoyment of the fruit of good labor. In Exodus 33:14 God promises that his presence will go with the people and lead them into rest. The promised land is a land of rest. Matthew 11:29 Jesus promises to give rest for those who take up his yoke. Jesus wrangled how many times over Sabbath in seeing it not simply as a mandated pause but a gospel enactment of promised rest.

American evangelicalism is energetic, aggressive, entrepreneurial and there are good things about those qualities, but it very much fails to embody Sabbath or rest.
