I think it is important that Christian ministers be informed of the teaching and practices of other religions. It is interesting to read the different brief accounts of the life of Siddhartha Gautama, especially given the secular filters of our culture. It is interesting how some accounts wish to demythologize the story, the the About.com telling of it. http://buddhism.about.com/od/lifeofthebuddha/a/buddhalife.htm
Syncretistic New-Age sites will tell it in another way. http://www.thewildrose.net/the_buddha.html or
http://www.ascensiongateway.com/quotes/buddha/biography.htm again with a fair amount of demythologizing.
Here seems to be a more academic telling of the story. http://webspace.ship.edu/cgboer/siddhartha.html and this one http://www.world-religions-professor.com/siddhartha.html.
Wikipedia is of course full of links. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siddharta_Gautama
http://www.Buddhanet.net has a lot of good information. It’s usually best to let people explain their own beliefs rather than relying on others (like me) who view from the outside.
This one has pictures. http://www.buddhistedu.org/en/service/class-lessons/101-the-life-of-siddhartha-gautama-
