My friend Danny turned me onto “TheListServe” which is an interesting Internet social experiment. Every day a person on the list is chosen at random to be able to send an email to the list. I’m sure there are some guidelines attached together with the announcement (you’ve got 48 hours to decide if you’re chosen).
What fascinates me about it is hearing from random people, what they’re interested in and what they chose to write about. For many they try to figure out the most important message they could share. Sometimes the messages are religious, sometimes practical, sometimes self-expressive, sometimes they just give advice.
It’s free to join and I find one extra email a day not to be burdensome.
I’m going to make a list of dates and emails that strike me for whatever reason. I keep them all in a Gmail folder for easy access.
