The Scarlet A(lise)

Most bloggers blog intermittently. Makes sense. Many of the blogs that I in the past have read once and thinking them worth following haven’t posted in a while. Alise’s blog was one of them. Today I find this note.

She had been vocal both on the subject of marriage to someone who didn’t share her faith and in defense of intimate cross-gender friendships. I’m impressed at her courage to write what she did and to leave her blog up with her past posts.

As a pastor I think I can understand on another level. When we pastors fail, which we all do publicly or privately, there is a special burden that we carry. We spoke and our actions display our hypocrisy for all the world to see. Difficult, gripping stuff.

So my prayers for this blogger that I’ve never met. She might have left a comment on my blog once, and me on hers. I pray for her and the people around her. This is humanity. This is how we are. May God’s grace be with you all.
