1 Response to An atheist doubts Christian sincerity

Thanks for sharing Paul. As I am reading this, I realize that his story could have been mine. I started my philosophy major so that I could prove why I was right and everyone else was wrong. Somewhere along the way, a wise prof said to me: Christianity is about learning to love. All of a sudden it became okay to doubt and wonder, to believe and study, to listen and hear, rather than defend and contend and be right. I am hopeful for the author of this article. God has painfully removed an idol from his life, the idol of the Philosopher’s god, the god who exists so long as we can prove it. Perhaps he needs to dwell in the wilderness for a while until unexpectedly he encounters the wholly Other. Hopefully it won’t take too long. Reminds me a bit of Kierkegaard, “the best way to be a Christian is not to be one.”
