I Don’t Mock Zeus Because He’s Fake.

This is a good point, but I think slightly off. I think the political factor weighs heavily in this dynamic more than simply the religious points. Richard Dawkins when he was on the British Radio Program “Unbelievable” with two Christians basically conceded that he gets very exercised because he’s trying to combat US Fundamentalist YEC more than anyone else. The attitude is “you can keep whatever religion you like as long as you keep it private.” which is as heart the secular approach to religion.

I imagine he would have greater feelings against Zeus or Shiva if his children were leaving the church and pursuing these other gods. The anger is a function of fear and my guess is that Pastor Matt isn’t feeling much threat from these other formal religions. My guess is his anger is reserved for other threats.
