Why attack ISIS? Because we can. Why not attack the “failed states”? Because its costly and hard. The attack on ISIS shows the limits of the kind of power we have. The dilemma of the power of the sword is that it cannot control a person, only first try to coerce by threat and then kill. The power of the sword shows not our strength, but our impotence.
