What’s the difference between nostalgia and retelling a familiar story? Is a child being nostalgic when it wants its favourite book read again? At some point, it is.
Are all these comic book movies repetition anyway? Read a plot summary of an Avengers movie – very complex stews of different mythologies. It’s the new and undigested character that makes them lack meaning. If they were to both repeat and simplify and unpack they would stand out as meaningful art.
